Curriculum Overview

At the heart of the St Patrick’s curriculum is our mission statement, ‘Christ be within us as we learn, grow and shine.’ At St Patrick’s our curriculum is designed to equip children with the knowledge, skills, cultural capital and emotional well-being needed so that they can be successful in life.

Our children will be taught through a pedagogy that;

  • places learning within the framework of Catholic Values
  • has aspirational expectations of all children where there are no glass ceilings
  • promotes the safeguarding and emotional well-being of all children
  • develops an appreciation of their place as a global citizen within an interconnected and culturally diverse world
  • fosters an appreciation of the environment and their responsibilities as stewards for future generations
  • celebrates individual and group effort and success

Our Curriculum will provide children with;

  • the tools to be the adults and Catholics of the future through the Catholic Virtues and Values we follow
  • an enthusiasm for learning
  • the ability to communicate with confidence in all its forms
  • a coherent and deepening curriculum which makes links within and between subjects, and across years. It will equip children with the knowledge, skills and understanding of their learning and its relevance to their past and their future. This will be taught through a rich and deep thematic approach. This will be a truly 3D Curriculum (Sealy 2019)
  • memorable experiences so that children are inspired for their learning
